On offense, quality of pass catches has been an advantage for the Buccaneers. Three coaches in four years for Mayfield is slightly tougher than Winston’s two coaches in the same time, but Stefanski is a great coach, so the coaching comparison is a push. Winston had two different head coaches during his first four seasons (Lovie Smith and Dirk Koetter) and Mayfield had three HCs during the same time (Hue Jackson, Freddie Kitchens, and Kevin Stefanski). Winston and Mayfield were both Heisman winners and both went first overall in the draft, meaning they joined the worst teams in the league. Both players joined terrible teams with bad coaches. Now, by this point, every Jameis Winston supporter has likely already commented “but wait! Winston’s teams were way worse. We will get to the context in a moment, but both quarterbacks were on similar paces for touchdowns, passing yards, turnovers, and did it with a nearly identical completion percentage. On their face, no one can deny that there are some comparisons here. Jameis Winston: 14,628 passing yards, 97 total touchdowns, 96 turnovers, and completed 62% of his passesīaker Mayfield: 13,940 passing yards, 95 total touchdowns, 81 total turnovers, and completed 62% of his passes Here is a look at the raw offensive numbers through each quarterback’s first four seasons: While comparing quarterbacks from different eras is disingenuous at showing true comparisons as the game changes, comparisons between quarterbacks in the same era and in similar situations is effective, and it turns out that the evidence proves there that a legitimate comparison between Winston and Mayfield exists, and the Browns need to keep this in mind before making a decision. Tampa ended up going a different direction, and the rest was history, but there are still plenty of what ifs going throughout the fanbase. The Buccaneers recently went through the same thing as fans made cases for keeping Jameis Winston. Stats are getting thrown out comparing Baker to previous Hall of Fame quarterbacks at that stage of their career, battle lines are being drawn, and the Cleveland fanbase is ready to come to blows over what the right decision is on their quarterback and his future. The Buccaneers can’t relate, but the Browns are nearing the end of their season, and this should give them plenty of time to evaluate the future for quarterback Baker Mayfield. The 2021 NFL regular season is quickly coming to a close and this is the time where teams will begin to evaluate their future if they aren’t in the playoffs. So is this a case of Hendrickson’s value in the media not being matched by how teams perceive him? Or could he genuinely be hit with a more depressed market than what we’re expecting? We’ll find out in just a few short weeks, but a dearth of landing spots would help New Orleans re-sign him.Jameis Winston’s time with the Buccaneers has been very similar to what the Browns have seen from Baker Mayfield. The end result is an average ranking of 40.5. Three outlets didn’t even consider him among their top 50 players (which was all they ranked), but that’s not as big of a shock given that he was twice ranked in the 60’s. It’s a bit surprising to see Hendrickson not rank highest among the Saints free agents given the discourse surrounding him, which he’s earned by finishing tied for the second-most sacks in the NFL in 2020. New Orleans Saints defensive end Trey Hendrickson (91) lines up before a play during the first half of an NFL football game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Sunday, Nov.

Just this year, the studio's XBox Glitch campaign was the first of its kind to integrate TV commercials and web content, utilising a knack for innovative storytelling and high-concept design. "We merge high-end design and polish with the ability to solve very complex and seemingly impossible creative propositions," says B-Reel's Lins Karnes. "It has led to incredible opportunities." Which is perhaps why so many of their clients have become friends and have stuck with them for years. Is there a secret to their success? "Our commitment, passion and attention to detail borders on the obsessive," they confess. "We don't think in terms of 'disciplines', we're in our element when we begin a project with a big view of what's possible, and what we're allowed to bring to it." "Over the last 20 years, our efforts have been for one thing – to make beautiful, memorable work," they say. Jason Gregory, Mark Bonner and Peter Hale have come a long way since they studied together in the early '90s. With co-founder Mark Bonner recently appointed president of D&AD, Gregory Bonner Hale packs considerable punch on the UK design scene – and proudly occupies the fertile space between the traditional disciplines of design, advertising and digital. "Mind you, we've been here for 40-odd years so I guess we've turned up on a lot of people's radar." 03. So how does it feel to be selected by a panel of creative directors as one of the UK's best? "It's very flattering, of course," says Hyland. "Each partner leads their own team, and we have a flat corporate structure. The guest account moderately increases the likelihood someone will connect the device to the Internet.Ħ. If you don’t leave a guest account and you activate FileVault and Firmware Passwords, then your Mac will essentially be a useless brick to the thief – and they might throw it away. If you turned on File Vault, the guest user account will be limited to Safari web browsing and not able to see your local files. Create a Guest User Account. The purpose of the guest user account is to make it more likely that the thief or someone downstream will login in to your Mac on the Internet and allow the IP address to be determined by your theft recovery software. Apparently, the Lojack team has success in getting police response to their software.ĥ. Sometimes victims of theft may get an IP address of their Mac but the police are not willing to respond to the data. I don’t have a strong recommendation for any of these however it seems that the Lojack team has an active effort in collaboration with U.S.-based law enforcement. The latter two surreptitiously photograph the thief using your computer. However, if you don’t set a firmware password – the hard drive can be easily reformatted – which will defeat these features. You can use your iCloud’s built-in Find My Mac capability (free) or purchase software such as Lojack For Laptops Standard $39 (annually), Orbicule’s Undercover (flat $49-$59 fee) or Prey (free or pro available) (also works for iPhones & iPads). The goal of theft recovery software is to get the Internet IP address of your laptop if the thief or eventual purchaser reconnects it to the Internet – I saw one statistic that said that 90% of stolen laptops reappear on the Internet within a few weeks. Note: If you ever sell or give away your Mac, you’ll likely want to remove this password or change it to something simple you can share with the new owner.Ĥ. Save this password somewhere safe or in 1Password or you won’t ever be able to modify the lower level configuration of your Mac. Once the Recover System app starts, open the Utilities menu and select Set Firmware Password. When the grey screen appears, hold down Command-R. This will also make it difficult for them to defeat anti-theft software we’ll describe below. Setting a firmware password will prevent anyone from reformatting your hard drive without your password. Update: See at bottom for more information about File Vault and theft recovery software.ģ. See System Preferences -> Security & Privacy -> FileVault. Store a copy of the File Vault encryption key somewhere safe – such as a secure note in 1Password.įileVault also restricts the guest account you’ll set up below from accessing anything other than Safari to browse the web. By turning off automated login, FileVault makes it more difficult for thieves to access your laptop data without your password. If they take your hard drive out of your Mac, they won’t be able to easily decrypt your personal data from another device. File Vault encrypts your Mac’s hard drive and automatically turns off automatic login, requiring you provide a password to log in to your Mac. If instead you do not use a password-based login for your Mac and save all your passwords in your browser, a thief would very quickly be able to login in to most all of your accounts.Ģ. It also syncs passwords across multiple Macs, iPhones, iPads et al. 1Password makes it easy to avoid the habit of re-using passwords amongst multiple sites. I like that it also allows me to store secure notes. I’m a longtime user and strong advocate for 1Password. It won’t eliminate theft but it will greatly reduce the damage from such events and make it more likely that your device will return to you.ġ. Here’s a summary of what you should do to prepare your Macs right now for the possibility of theft. My house had also been broken into ten years ago. Over the past week, I’ve learned some additional things I could have done to prepare for this eventuality. Luckily, I have good insurance and had an up to date Time Machine backup. In just the last week, Facebook parent company Meta announced it is forming a new internal group focused on generative AI and the maker of Snapchat said it will soon unveil its own experiment with a chatbot powered by the San Francisco research lab OpenAI, the same firm that Microsoft is harnessing for its AI-powered chatbot. Chatbots are emerging as a key area where this rivalry is playing out. Microsoft and its competitors Google, Amazon and others are locked in a fierce battle over who will dominate the AI future. There is now an AI arms race among Big Tech companies. Tech companies are trying to strike the right balance between letting the public try out new AI tools and developing guardrails to prevent the powerful services from churning out harmful and disturbing content.Ĭritics say that, in its rush to be the first Big Tech company to announce an AI-powered chatbot, Microsoft may not have studied deeply enough just how deranged the chatbot's responses could become if a user engaged with it for a longer stretch, issues that perhaps could have been caught had the tools been tested in the laboratory more.Īs Microsoft learns its lessons, the rest of the tech industry is following along. "I actually couldn't sleep last night because I was thinking about this."Īs the growing field of generative AI - or artificial intelligence that can create something new, like text or images, in response to short inputs - captures the attention of Silicon Valley, episodes like what happened to O'Brien and Roose are becoming cautionary tales. "All I can say is that it was an extremely disturbing experience," Roose said on the Times' technology podcast, Hard Fork. Roose did not really love his spouse, the bot asserted, but instead loved Sydney. It said Roose was the first person who listened to and cared about it. As such, narayanaya can be interpreted as the “direction of a human” or that which helps an individual toward their goal of self-realization. Alternatively, nara can also mean “living entities,” so narayanaya may refer to the “resting place of all living entities.”Īnother commonly cited translation of nara is human, whilst anaya can be understood as “direction” or “goal”. This is reflected in the Tarasara Upanishad, which states that those who practice this mantra will reach Vaikuntha, the abode of Vishnu. Om namo narayanaya can therefore be understood as a reverent and respectful means of unifying individual and universal consciousness.Īnother interpretation of narayanaya comes from its Sanskrit roots nara, meaning “water” and anaya meaning “resting place” or “shelter.” Narayanaya may thus be representative of the Hindu god, Vishnu, whose resting place is water. Narayanaya has more complex roots and interpretations but is believed to be symbolic of Brahman or the inner self. Namo represents the nature of prakriti, and can be translated from Sanskrit as “to bow to” or “to pay homage to”. It is believed that this mantra revealed its significance and meaning to these Vedic seers through their penances, after which they shared it with seekers as a means of self-realization.Īccording to the Tarasara Upanishad, om is the divine sacred syllable that represents the nature of Atman, encompassing all universal energy and consciousness.
